Legend among Crusaders told how the marbled Damascus swords wielded by the Arabs were hard enough to power through poorer quality European swords whilst flexible enough to be damage proof. The Damascus swords became highly sought after battle trophies, but to reasons unknown the technique of making Damascus steel was eventually lost, confining the swords to myth and legend.
In a quest to attain a piece of the legend, Passion scissors have recreated the lost art of Damascus steel-forging using our exclusive methods and have utilised them to craft the most beautiful and exotic scissors.
Multiple layers of steel with opposing qualities are forged together and then repeatedly folded to create a marbled metal billet. The result is a unique scissor that absorbs vibrations through its layers of softer steel to create an effortless smooth cut, whilst maintaining strength and razor sharpness through its layers of harder steel. The "wood grain" swirls that adorn the surface are the intertwining steel fibres that flow through the internal structure of the scissor.
The absurdly beautiful patterns they create are one of a kind and the natural properties of the steel are destined for cutting, much like the mystical Damascus steel crafted by metal smiths over a thousand years ago
